Pikey Peak Trek Overview

Pikey Peak Trek is a perfect choice if you are looking for a week-long trek that is not at a very high altitude but still offers a great trekking holiday experience. The Pikey Peak trek in the Khumbu District, the lower Mount Everest region close to the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, is often an excellent (less discovered) route. If you are fit and fine or under a time restriction, you can simply shorten this trek and craft the short itinerary of 5 to 6 days. But a more comfortable 7 day's plan permits you physical effort without the strain and an opportunity to go to a variety of Buddhist sites (monasteries, gompas, and stupas).

Both itineraries give wonderful views of the Numbur Himal and Mount Everest. But is it the simplest read of Mount Everest in Nepal? You'll have to see for yourself. Take it slow, enjoying the unparalleled scenery by adding a couple of days on the Pikey Peak trek.

This itinerary permits a better pace and is compatible with trekkers for those who don't desire the additional physical challenge that the 3-day choice needs.

Pikey Peak Transportation Cost and Getting there and out:

You have three options to get there:

  1.  The first option is to take a local sharing jeep or rent a private vehicle, depending on the number of people in your group. Local jeep ticket cost USD 20
  2. There are flights to Phaplu from Kathmandu that cost USD 195 per adult per flight
  3. Thirdly, you can take a local bus to Jiri from Kathmandu and follow the classic Jiri Everest Base Camp route till Bhandar, then follow the Pikey Peak route, leaving the EBC Trek route at Bhandar.

Pikey Peak Trek - Great guide, scenic and cultural route!

    Rating:

We, friends of 4 young adults, did the Pikey Peak Trek in March. As first-timers trekking in Nepal, we picked the Pikey Peak as a beginner hike. We were not sure of hiking higher at first and have a plan to do Everest Base Camp later this year.      But our first-ever trekking trip appeared to be a great hiking trek, with the view from the summit of Pikey Peak (4065 m) beyond imagination with the lucky day of crystal-clear weather. The Sherpa culture in this route is very fascinating. You can find many monuments like Kani, Maniwalls, and Chhorten along the route. The monastery we visited above the valley of Junbesi Village was most significant. Anyone doing this trip should miss this detour trip for an extra highlight of the trekking in Nepal.   And the unsung hero of our entire journey? Wilderness Excursion (former guide in the Himalayas) in Kathmandu, and our guide, Garap, who wasn’t just a guide—he became our fifth funny Aussie mate through the journey. Suggestion: For a more comfortable pace, you can do this trek in 7 days with rest and recovery.    We definitely come back and use them, and for our Everest Base Camp, we dream to go higher next time. Thank you.

    7 Days Pikey Peak Trek

    Rating:

We did an excellent trek to Pikey Peak in November, the area is less touristy route and we enjoyed the peaceful mountain environment with authentic Sherpa culture. A side visit to Thupten Choling Gumpa was great. Pikey Peak was impressive, with stunning views. The exceptional hospitality local and understanding of our group’s requirement though we cannot expect much comfortable trek in Nepal as it is destination and adventure and like back to 80s. We met only few trekkers in our 7 days trek. We suggest this route for those trekkers who don’t like crowd and prefer off the beaten trail in Nepal.
